Charles Bissue, Andy Owusu granted GHC200k bail each

In a latest development, the High Court in Accra has granted GH₵ 200,000 bail with two sureties each to Charles Bissue and Andy Owusu.

The duo have been charged with 15 counts of corruption-related offences, including abuse of office for profit.

During prosecution, the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges and were ordered to deposit their passports with the court registry.

They are also mandated to report to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) once every month as part of their bail conditions.

Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned to May 29.

It will be recalled that the OSP recently accused the secretary of the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCM), Charles Bissue, of allegedly using his office as secretary of the IMCM to collect GH¢35,000 from one Benjamin Adjapong “for the purpose of circumventing established requirements of the IMCM in respect of verification of documents” for the renewal of a mining license.

The next accused person, Andy Thomas Owusu, was also accused of purportedly facilitating the payment to Bissue.
