WAFU B to organize five youth competitions in 2025 – Kurt Okraku

West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B President Kurt Okraku has reaffirmed the sub-regional body’s commitment to youth football development, announcing plans to organize at least five competitions for boys and girls in 2025.

Speaking at the CAF Zonal WAFU B meeting in Cairo, Okraku emphasized the significance of these tournaments in nurturing young talent and strengthening football within the zone.

“This year, we are committed to organizing at least five youth competitions (boys and girls), which will not only enhance the competitive spirit among our Member Associations but also provide valuable opportunities for talent development,” he stated.

Okraku stressed that WAFU B’s vision aligns with that of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, who has championed the growth and transformation of African football. He expressed confidence that with the right leadership and structures in place, the sub-region will continue to thrive.

WAFU B, which comprises Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Benin, Niger, and Togo, has been working to enhance the quality and visibility of its competitions. The planned youth tournaments will serve as vital platforms for identifying and grooming future stars for national teams and professional clubs.

Under Okraku’s leadership, WAFU B has also made significant strides in administration and infrastructure development, with the relocation of its headquarters to Abidjan marking another step forward.
