Hit-and-run driver kills 2 Achimota old students

The Achinota School community has been thrown into mourning after a driver hit and killed two former students on the night of March 7, 2025.

The victims, Davida Asante Boateng and Lilian Akorli, were involved in the fatal accident along the Achimota Highway in Accra.

According to the school’s old students association, they were returning to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) after attending the annual bonfire celebration at Achimota School.

A suspected black Corolla vehicle knocked them down while they were crossing the highway and sped off from the scene.

Some bystanders rushed the two to the hospital, where they later passed away.

Meanwhile, the suspect driver has been arrested, according to Alice Safoa, Davida’s aunt.

“The incident occurred around 10:30. According to the police, the driver was arrested after a chase. However, the hospital staff revealed that the driver was seeking refuge, fearing an attack by eyewitnesses. Following his arrest, he was taken to the hospital due to ill health but has since recovered and been returned to the police cells,” she recounted.
