Ayawaso North marks 68th Independence Day with kiddi march

The Ayawaso North Municipality celebrated Ghana’s 68th Independence Day in grand style with a special Kiddi March that brought together kindergarten pupils from both public and private schools across the district.

The vibrant event was held at the forecourt of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and was attended by key stakeholders, including Mr. Jramani Dramani, the Ayawaso North Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Techie, the Director of Education, as well as teachers, parents, and community members.

Crime Officer ASP Osei Owusu Amponsah from the Kotobabi police division, the Municipal Coordinating Director, and the Director of Education took the guard of honour.

The parade was a vibrant display of patriotism as the young pupils, dressed in their neatly pressed school uniforms, marched with enthusiasm to mark the historic occasion. Teachers and parents cheered them on, creating a joyful atmosphere filled with national pride.

In a welcome address delivered by the Municipal Coordinating Director on behalf of Hon. Yussif Jajah, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North, he emphasized the significance of this year’s theme: “Reflect, Review, and Reset.”

He noted that Ghana’s 68th Independence Day provides a crucial opportunity to reflect on the nation’s past, assess its current development challenges, and reset its priorities to build a stronger and more sustainable future.

“Resetting Ghana requires ethical leadership, value addition to our agricultural products, and a redefinition of our economic relationships with development partners,” the speech highlighted.

He also touched on the importance of instilling values of discipline, responsibility, and hard work in young learners, as they are the future leaders who will drive the country’s transformation agenda.

The event was not only about speeches and marching—it was also a day of community engagement and fun activities.One of the major highlights was a friendly football match between teachers and members of the community at Unity Park.

The match was highly competitive and drew an excited crowd of spectators who cheered for their favorite teams. It served as a platform to promote unity, teamwork, and healthy competition within the municipality.

The Ayawaso North Director of Education, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Techie, commended the initiative, stating that such events help instill national pride in children from an early age while also fostering stronger community relationships.

He encouraged teachers and parents to continue working together in shaping the next generation of Ghanaian leaders.

Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to supporting education and community development, ensuring that children receive the best possible opportunities to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
