SONA: Put Ghana first — Mahama charges Minority

President John Mahama has urged the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmakers to put national interests above partisan politics and actively participate in the upcoming National Economic Dialogue.

Delivering his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term on Thursday, 27th February, he stressed that rebuilding Ghana’s economy requires unity and collaboration from all stakeholders, regardless of political affiliation.

“No one has all the answers. I believe in teamwork,” President Mahama stated. “The National Economic Dialogue is our chance to come together and reset the economy for the good of Ghana.”

He called on the NPP leadership to set aside partisan interests and contribute meaningfully to discussions that will shape the country’s economic future.

The president announced that the National Economic Dialogue will take place on the 3rd and 4th of March 2025 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The event will bring together government officials, economic experts, business leaders, and other key stakeholders to develop strategies for economic transformation.

Emphasizing the dialogue’s importance, Mr. Mahama noted that it will serve as a platform for generating practical solutions to Ghana’s financial challenges.

He will lead the event with a keynote address titled, Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together.”

His call for national unity is seen as a major step toward bipartisan cooperation in addressing Ghana’s economic recovery.
