Black Queens head coach, Kim Lars Björkegren, has expressed his disappointment over his team’s 1-0 loss to Morocco.

The friendly game was played in Morocco in Björkegren’s first major test since taking over as head coach of Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team following the departure of Nora Hauptle.

Both teams missed chances as the game looked certain to end goalless before Sakina Ouzraoui Diki’s goal in the 92nd minute got Morocco the win.

Speaking after the game, Björkegren highlighted the positives he picked from the game as the Black Queens prepare to compete in the Women’s AFCON later this year.

“This is the worst feeling you can have as a coach and as a player, when you work hard for almost the whole game and you deserve at least a draw result, you have the chances to actually and then you get a little bit unlucky in the end, the ball bouncing in their direction and they score when there is almost nothing left so I’m really proud of the girls”

“So just a little bit unlucky in the end but overall, I’m happy with the girls” Björkegren said.

Ghana is in Group in this year’s Women’s AFCON with defending champions South Africa, Mali and Tanzania.
