Nana Oduro Sarfo explains GFA President’s silence on Kotoko fan’s death

Nana Sarfo Oduro, a member of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has disclosed that the GFA President, Kurt Okraku, has been silent following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis “Nana Pooley” Frimpong due to illness.

Okraku is currently abroad receiving medical treatment, which has led to criticism for not addressing the incident publicly.

During a meeting between the GFA delegation and Asante Kotoko’s leadership, Sarfo Oduro explained that Okraku’s lack of communication on the matter resulted from his health condition.

Since the incident occurred, he has not spoken publicly. The reason is that Kurt is not feeling well and is currently out of the country. If he were well, he would have been the first to visit Kotoko’s camp. Once he recovers and returns safely, he will be here, he stated.

This meeting was the first direct engagement between the GFA and Kotoko since the fatal stabbing that occurred during a league match against Nsoatreman FC.

Meanwhile, Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee Chairman, Nana Apinkra, has issued a stern warning to the GFA, stating that the club will not resume football activities until their demands for improved security and other reforms are met.
