Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has praised the Black Stars as special for being able to hone their skills to the level that they are national assets.

He said this ahead of the team’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic on Monday night at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Bawumia met the team before their dramatic 4-3 win that has put them temporarily on top of Group I of the qualification for the Mexico, Canada, and USA tournaments.

Speaking to the team, he disclosed that he loved football but was not able to break into his secondary or primary school teams, hence the players making it into the Black Stars make them special.

“We were so happy when you won in Mali. Let me say that I have the highest respect for what you do as footballers and what you do for this country.

“The skill level for you, the dedication, and the commitment that is required for you to get to this team…so when you get all the way to the Black Stars level, it takes something special and you are special.”
