Following a 2-1 victory over Mali in Bamako, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo anticipates a challenging encounter against Central African Republic (CAR) in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Speaking at a post-match press conference, Addo acknowledged that the win, courtesy of goals from Ernest Nuamah and Jordan Ayew, has heightened expectations for a triumph in their next match on June 10 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
He noted that the surprise win in Bamako has added to the pressure to deliver a win against CAR, Ghana’s first victory in 2024.
“The game against Central African Republic will now be even more difficult because we will now be expected to win.”
Ghana’s victory over Mali has propelled them to second place in Group I, while Central African Republic’s 1-0 win over Chad has secured their fourth-place position.
Ghana now has six points and a goal difference of +1, while CAR has four points. This sets the stage for a crucial matchup between the two teams on June 10 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
