Black Stars need Baba Rahman for upcoming World Cup qualifiers – Ibrahim Saanie Daara

Former communication director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Saanie Daara has backed POAK defender Baba Abdul Rahman to make a return to the Black Stars team ahead of the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualification games against Mali and Central Africa Republic.

The former Chelsea defender opted out of the Black Stars team for the 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast early this year and has since not featured for the national team.

Having clinched the Greek Super League title with PAOK, the Senior CAF media officer has advocated for the return of Baba Rahman ahead of the World Cup qualifiers next month.

Ghana will travel to face Mali on June 6 before they return to take on Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium on June 10, 2024.

“Ghana ace Baba Rahman has just finished the best season of his career, crowning it with the Greek league title with at PAOK. The left-back played 44 matches, scoring 6 GOALS, four assists and 3,564 mins of action. Black Stars need Baba for upcoming WC qualifiers” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The former Chelsea marksman played a huge role to help PAOK beat Aris 2-1 to clinch the Greek Super League title. His goal contribution for the club was amazing, making him one of the highest scoring defenders in the league.

Appearing in a phenomenal 44 matches this term, Rahman’s impact resonated deeply as evidenced by his six goals and four assists.
