Frederick Acheampong ‘chopped’ my $20,000 meant to get me a place in the Black Stars squad for 2010 World Cup – Ransford Osei

Story By: Football Ghana

Former Ghana star, Ransford Osei has opened up on how Ghana FA Executive Council Member Frederick Acheampong tricked him and spent his $20,000.

Speaking to Doc Royal Sports, Ransford Osei said prior to the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Frederick Acheampong asked him to use the money to settle some people in football leadership to ensure he gains favour to get a place in the Black Stars squad for the tournament.

He said although he paid the money to Frederick Acheampong, the football administrator never settled any top official but spent the money himself.

According to Ransford Osei, this is why he did not get a place in the Ghana squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

“I remember I got a call and the person who called me was Frederick Acheampong. He told me Randy would call me. He said I will be called by the Black Stars and that evening I got a Visa to South Africa.

“He did something that pained me and that’s why I’m saying this today. He broke my career…..He asked me for money to show appreciation to the leaders but he took the money and spent it instead. He never gave the money to them,” Ransford Osei said.
