The team’s focus is to win football matches – Chris Hughton ahead of Madagascar clash

Ghana head coach Chris Hughton says the team is focused on winning games ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualifying opener against Madagascar.

There have been criticisms of the way the team is playing since he took over as head coach in March 2023.

Coach Chris Hughton and the players were slammed after horrible defeats to Mexico and the USA during the September international break.

Speaking ahead of today’s clash against Madagascar at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Hughton said he is aware of the demands of the public and how they want to see the team play.

“This is a group where we want to qualify. The only way to qualify is to win football matches. We are very conscious,” he said.

“We are very conscious of the demands of the public and what they want to see. The most important thing is to win football matches,” he added.

The game will kick off at 4 pm Ghana time.
