Albanian Football Federation postpones all matches to honour late Raphael Dwamena

The Albanian Football Federation has announced the postponement of all matches to honour the late Ghanaian striker, Raphael Dwamena.

Dwamena collapsed on Saturday while in action for KF Egnatia in their Albanian Super League match against Partizani Tirana.

And despite immediate medical attention, he passed away soon after.

Following the demise of Dwamena, the Albanian Football Federations have announced postponement of all matches in the country to honour the former Egnatia captain.

As tribute pours in for the Ghanaian attacker, the football federation has sent in their condolences to the family of the later striker.

“The Albanian Football Federation expresses its deep shock for the tragedy that happened today during the match of the 13th week of “Abissnet Superiore”, Egnatia-Partizani.

The AFL expresses its deepest condolences to the Dwamena family and the Egnatia club for this great loss and event that has shocked the entire Albanian football community. The Football Federation informs that all matches scheduled for this weekend in all football championships in Albania will be postponed at a later date”.

Dwamena, the league’s top scorer this season with 12 goals in 12 matches, made eight appearances for Ghana and scored twice internationally.

His career included stints in Spain, Denmark and Switzerland. Local media reports have focused on Dwamena’s previous heart problems.

In 2021, he was hospitalized after collapsing during a game in Austria while playing for Blau-Weiss Linz.
