Samuel Atta Akyea, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee investigating a leaked tape on a plot to remove the Inspector General of Police(IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare says it is a dubious and devilish posture to say he is being biased in the hearing of the case before the committee.
The lead counsel for the IGP, Kwame Gyan, had accused Samuel Atta Akyea of unfair treatment against the IGP, but the Abuakwa South MP has refuted this claim stating that he has been fair to all parties who have appeared before the committee since the process started.
“I believe that it is very dubious and devilish posture by whoever is doing that. I don’t know why anyone in his right mind would say I want to change the evidence to favour somebody”, Atta Akyea told the media after the in-camera hearing on Wednesday October, 11.
” I was the same Samuel Atta AKyea who afforded IGP the opportunity to come and put his case across. That was good wasn’t it” he quizzed.
“When somebody tells you that the tape you brought there’s something on it but that’s not the full tape, stating that the tape has been doctored, then Bugri Naabu brings another one and says it’s the comprehensive one. Why will you put it across that there is a motive behind it”.
Atta Akyea questioned the motive behind the series of claims by the IGP lawyers since he has no intention of treating any party unfairly.
“They are imputing the credibility of the first tape that there is a motive? What is the motive behind it that I should be the next IGP? he asked.
“What is it that the Speaker saw in me as an NPP MP to chair this committee?” he quizzed further.
