The Ghana Premier League has come under scrutiny for various aspects including player quality, television coverage, coaching, and more.

Former Black Stars defender Jerry Akaminko, who has firsthand experience in the local football scene, emphasizes the need for improvement.

He cautions against directly comparing today’s players to those of earlier times, acknowledging the league’s evolution.

Akaminko, who previously played for Heart of Lions, brings a seasoned perspective to the discussion.

“I don’t think if you compare that way it will work, it won’t work because obviously the sort of players that were playing in the league at that time compared to now, there is a huge difference.

He further explained, “The maturity of the players then and now, obviously young players. But now they are playing at their capacity or level of whatever they will be.

Akaminko stressed the need for continuous improvement, saying, “But I think there should be more room for improvement, We should try to get the league to a certain standard, like we will prepare the players to play in and standard or level.”
