Family of slain Kasoa cop speaks after court frees 6 suspects

Family members of Lance Corporal Awal Mohammed, the police officer who was killed together with his colleague on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 by gunmen while on traffic duty on the Kasoa-Winneba road, say they have left everything in the hands God.

“For us we are not following anything and are not ready to fight physically because we know our God will fight for us and so we leave everything to him, he is our warrior. We are really hurt but we know our brother is resting with the Lord,” brother of the deceased police officer, Sulemana Awal Akakpo said.

His comment comes after six people accused of assisting suspect Eric Kojo Duah to murder the two policemen were freed by a district court, Thursday.

The court freed the six suspects after State Prosecutors dropped the charges against them.

But, Mr Akakpo, who was in tears in an interview on Accra based Okay FM, monitored by Adomonline.com, said the family will not take any action but wants justice to prevail.

“My brother was a very good person. He had so many people he was supporting through education and other means and now that he is no more, it has become a big worry to us. We have really lost a gem in our family,” he said.
