An accident involving an articulated truck and a motorcycle (okada) has resulted in the tragic death of a woman and left the motor rider in critical condition at Gomoa Akotsi on the Kasoa-Cape Coast highway in the Central Region.
Information gathered indicates that the articulated truck, the okada rider, and the deceased were travelling from Gomoa Akotsi towards Kasoa.
According to an eyewitness, Ibrahim Abubakar, the rider was driving in the middle of the road due to heavy traffic and then attempted to overtake the truck when a metal on the side of the truck pulled both the rider and the deceased to the ground.
The truck’s back tyre then ran over them, killing the female passenger on the spot.
On the other hand, the rider sustained severe injuries to his leg.
Emergency response teams were dispatched for urgent medical assistance before rushing the victims to the hospital.
The body of the deceased has been retrieved and deposited at the morgue awaiting identification.
Accident cases have become rampant in the country.
