NAGRAT calls off strike following intervention by President Akufo-Addo

The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has called its week-old strike off.

This follows the intervention of the President in resolving the challenges iterated by the graduate teachers at the beginning of the industrial action.

The President in a letter to the Ghana Education Service called for the suspension of the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) software, a program which has become a major point of concern for  teachers.

Reacting to this new development, the leadership of NAGRAT expressed their gratitude to the President for his intervention.

“The leadership of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) will like to announce to all teachers and the general public that from 13th September 2019, it has called off its strike,” a statement released by the body reads.

It adds “We thank the Minister of Education, the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, the National Labour Commission and the Ghana Education Service for their interventions to address the challenges that necessitated the industrial action.”
