Manchester rapper Aitch appears to have unveiled Manchester United’s new 2023/24 home shirt three days before its official launch by wearing the jersey on stage at Glastonbury.
Aitch, who hails from Moston to the northeast of the city centre and is a United fan, was performing on the festival’s Pyramid Stage on Saturday evening.
He initially had the red shirt tucked into the waistband of his trousers, at which point it wasn’t clear what it was. But the 23-year-old then pulled the item out and put it on, revealing the iconic United badge.
The shirt matches previous online leaks of the new Adidas home shirt and appears to confirm what the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw will soon be wearing. But the actual unveiling is not for another few days until Tuesday 27 June.
The new shirt features predominantly black trim, with United having used mainly white accents in each of the past two seasons. TeamViewer remains in place as the front-of-shirt sponsor, despite the club agreeing to buy itself out of the deal three years early in December – at the time it was confirmed that the German software company would stay on shirts until a replacement sponsor was found.
Meanwhile, the Adidas branding matches other new releases that have seen the sportswear giant’s name dropped in favour of the cleaner look of its iconic three stripes logo standing alone.
