Ghana coach, Chris Hughton will be forced to settle on 24 players for the for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Madagascar.
All invited for the game have reported in camp with the team expected to continue their preparations later today at the Accra Sports Stadium.
However, Gideon Mensah has been ruled out of the game due to an injury. He was not involved in the team’s training on Monday
However, the Ghana Football Association in a statement on Tuesday confirmed that the AJ will not be fit for the game after an asseseement was done in an injury he suffered during the course of the season.
“Gideon picked up a knee injury during the season but his club managed him conservatively until the end of the season. Upon assessment in camp on Monday, we decided to excuse him from this game in order not to aggravate the injury,” Team medical head, Dr. Prince Pambo told ghanafa.org.
“We expect him to have enough rest during the break to be able to recover on time for next season,” he added.
Meanwhile, Thomas Partey who was absent on Monday has reported to the team’s camp on Tuesday morning.
He is expected to be involved in training later today when the team continue their preparation at 16:30GMT.
