Bofoakwa Tano returns to the Ghana Premier League

The playoff match to determine who secures promotion to the Ghana Premier League from the Zone One Division One League was held on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium. 

The final showdown was between Techiman Eleven Wonders and Bofoakwa Tano, with both teams putting up top performances within the 90 minutes of play.

Bofoakwa Tano had a bright start to the match and took the lead after just seven minutes when the team was given a penalty kick.

Leslie Aryeetey accepted the responsibility from 12 yards and converted the penalty to give his team the lead.

A minute into the second half, Techiman Eleven Wonders restored parity through an equaliser from Osman Zakaria.

Despite both teams’ efforts, neither side could find the winning goal after 90 minutes and extra time, resulting in the match being decided by penalties.

Bofoakwa kept their composure and ultimately secured a 7-6 victory in the shootout.

The remarkable achievement by Bofoakwa Tano marks the end of their arduous journey outside the top flight.
