The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has started its digitalisation process of capturing ECG assets and customer data.
The customer data process includes capturing customer ID, telephone number, GPS code, meter details, the tag of ECG Transformers, Poles and Meters with unique QR Codes.
The company in a statement released on Thursday, May 18, 2023, urged customers and the general public to corporate with the staff of ECG as they visit their homes and various workplaces to conduct the exercise.
“ECG wishes to take this opportunity to request the cooperation of all customers and the general public in this very important exercise which will aid the digitalisation of our operations to the mutual benefit of our cherished customers and ECG”, excerpts of the statement read.
Meanwhile, management has advised customers to always inspect the ID cards of teams who visit their premises for the digitalisation process.

ECG on Monday, May 15, 2023, announced that the company will no longer accept cash at any office across the country.
According to the company, customers will be paying their bills via mobile money and bank transfers.
The Director of Communications, William Boateng, in an interview, emphasised that for the past few months, the company has improved on its digitalisation system and is now ready to roll out the payment platform which is one of the key interventions to improve revenue mobilisation.
“With this new digital payment platform, we will no longer receive cash at any of the ECG payment offices”.
“Customers will be required to either pay by mobile money or at the bank”, he added.
