The recent panel discussion on JoyNews PM Express show between Nana B, the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sparked controversy among Ghanaians, particularly regarding Nana B’s knowledge on economic issues.

It is important to note that Nana B, as the National Youth Organiser of the NPP, has the responsibility to speak on behalf of the party and the government on various issues, including economic matters. However, his recent performance on the JoyNews program has left much to be desired.

During the program, Nana B struggled to provide factual figures and coherent arguments to support his party’s stance on economic issues. On the other hand, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi was very effective and presented factual figures to support his arguments, thereby indicating a clear mismatch between the two individuals on the show.

The role of spokespersons for the government and political parties is to effectively communicate policies and positions on various issues to the public, and this cannot be done effectively without a deep understanding of the subject matter. It is worrying that someone in such a prominent position within a political party and government lacks knowledge and understanding of economic issues. Economic issues are crucial to the development of any country, and any person who speaks on behalf of a government or political party on these issues must have a sound understanding of them.

The NPP government has made several promises to Ghanaians regarding the economy, including job creation, reduction of the cost of living, and the provision of better infrastructure. Therefore, it is essential that the people who speak on behalf of the government and the party on economic issues can provide credible and factual information to the public. This is because he does not have the expertise or experience required to effectively communicate economic policies and their implications to the public. Economic issues are complex and require a thorough understanding of various factors such as macroeconomics, fiscal policy, and global trade dynamics.

Given Nana B’s recent performance, it is clear that he is not the right person to speak on behalf of the NPP on economic issues. It would be best if the party re-evaluated its communication strategy and appointed someone with a better understanding of economic issues to speak on their behalf. A political figure like Nana B speaks on economic issues without the necessary knowledge and understanding, it can lead to confusion, misinterpretation, and misinformation among the public. This can have negative consequences on the country’s economy, investor confidence, and public trust in the government.

As a result, he should not speak on behalf of the NPP on economic issues. It is crucial that the party appoints someone with a better understanding of economic issues to speak on their behalf and provide credible and factual information to the public.
