Valentine’s Day is so special that we spend days in preparation for the moment. We make arrangement for flowers, gifts, chocolates, and more just to make that moment perfect. Though the day lasts just 24 hours, it makes a memory of a life time which makes it totally worth it.
St Valentine’s Day is an annual festival to celebrate romantic love, friendship and admiration. The day is originally to celebrate a catholic priest named Saint Valentine who cared for his fellow prisoners and also his jailor’s blind daughter when he was jailed for going contrary to the Emperor Claudius II in the 3rd Century. Legend has it that Valentine cured the girl’s blindness and that his final act before being executed was to write her a love message signed ‘from your Valentine’. He was then executed on 14th February in the year 270.
In contemporary times, couples choose to celebrate Valentine’s Day with dinner, a picnic or special home-cooked meal. Many restaurants offer Valentine’s Day dinner promotions and food is often presented with symbols of love like hearts and flowers. Another popular Valentine’s Day activity is to indulge in a luxury hotel stay in a beautiful location, allowing a couple to get away from it all and enjoy some quality time together. The question is what happens after the 24 hours?

Valentine’s day is also a precursor for a spike in divorce filings as the pressure and anxiety levels reach a point of no return when living a distorted perception of love. In spite of this couples have every excuse to utilize this day to the max and create memories. Some may take the time to renew their vows and recommit to each other to rekindle their love which may be on the ropes. Others utilize it by turning on the chapter of marriage. Single people may find the day not useful or empty. If you don’t have a partner right now, it doesn’t matter. You are a good person and have love to give. Giving your love away is easy and simple. Simple as a genuine smile or a sweet, loving gesture to a friend, family member or even a complete stranger. Volunteering your time is an amazing way to spread your love.
