Asante Kotoko striker Frank Mbella linked with move to French Ligue 1 side

Asante Kotoko striker Frank Mbella Etouga is reported to have attracted the attention of some European teams following his impressive performance in the ongoing league season.

According to reports, several clubs, including Ligue 1 giants Stade Rennais have shown interest in the in-form attacker.

The Cameroonian attacker has been one of the standout players in the Ghana Premier League since joining the Porcupine Warriors from Fortuna du Mfou in October 2021.

The 20-year-old has scored 11 goals in the league after 17 games and currently leads the goal king chart.

This past weekend, Etouga recorded his second hat-trick as Kotoko defeated Accra Lions in Kumasi; his first was in the Ashanti derby against AshantiGold.

His goals have contributed to Kotoko’s impressive run in the league as they occupy the top spot and are determined for the title and a return to continental club competition.

It is not clear whether they will be willing to sell their marksman in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Mbella has been tipped to score more than 20 goals this season if he maintains his current form at the club.

The league leader, Kotoko, come up against bitter rivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday, and the in-form attacker will be hoping for a good result.

A brace for him in that Super clash will see him break Diawise Taylor’s last season record of 12 goals at the end of the first half.
