The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to a gold robbery at Wassa Afransie in the Western Region.
The suspects, identified as Felix Adjei, also known as Africa or Nana Adjei, Emmanuel Kelvin, a Nigerian national, and Kofi Appiah, alias Kesse, are accused of attacking employees of Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited.
They reportedly stole gold valued at GHS 199,000.00, along with other valuables.
Investigations revealed that on April 4, 2025, company driver Kofi Appiah and colleague Emmanuel Adu were returning from Wassa Ayiem after picking up gold from a client when armed men suddenly emerged from the bush and fired warning shots.
The attackers made away with 14 pounds of gold, two mobile phones, and an unregistered Toyota Corolla, which was later found abandoned.
Police arrested Kofi Appiah at his home in Wassa Akropong on April 21, 2025.
Subsequent operations led to the capture of the two other suspects at their respective hideouts.
Officers retrieved a pump-action gun, a pistol, twenty-five rounds of 9mm ammunition, an AA cartridge, two G3 ammunitions, a locally made pistol, and GHS 65,000 in cash believed to be part of the robbery proceeds.
“The suspects are currently in custody, assisting with ongoing investigations, and will be processed through the legal system to face justice,” a police statement confirmed.
The police continue to urge the public to support efforts in tackling crime across the region.
