The body of a 10-year-old boy, identified as Nurudeen Abubakar, has been found in Salt Lake at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
According to reports, Nurudeen went missing on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, after returning from school.
His lifeless body was discovered the following day, Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Confirming the incident, the Assemblyman for the Upper Nyanyano electoral area, Isaac Quansah, stated that the boy’s body had been deposited at the Mother and Child Hospital mortuary for preservation.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
Mr. Quansah has urged parents to closely monitor their children’s movements to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
This incident comes after a yet-to-be-identified man, believed to be in his 40s, drowned in the Volta Lake near the Adomi Bridge in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.
His decomposing body was discovered floating on the lake around 10:30 a.m. on February 19, 2025, by an immigration officer stationed at the bridge.
A team comprising the District Police Commander, Environmental Health Officers, a Military Defence Officer, and local divers collaborated to retrieve the remains.
The deceased, who was found well-dressed, has been transported to the Police Hospital for further investigation and identification.
